Advance Healthcare provides specialist psychiatric services for individuals with persistent and multifactorial mental health presentations. Our psychiatrists undertake comprehensive assessments that consider the full clinical picture, including biological, psychological and social factors contributing to each person’s presentation. Therapy is delivered using an individualised, evidence based approach, with a strong emphasis on accurate diagnosis and practical recommendations to support effective treatment and long term management. This collaborative, patient centred approach aims to improve function, participation, and overall quality of life.
Many individuals presenting for psychiatric care have previously trialled multiple medications. Our psychiatrists place a strong emphasis on careful and detailed medication review, evaluating what is beneficial, what may no longer be required, and what may be contributing to side effects or reduced function. Where appropriate, medications are adjusted to optimise therapeutic benefit, minimise risk, and align with current prescribing guidelines, with a focus on supporting overall wellbeing and long term management.
Mental health conditions are often influenced by multiple interacting factors, and a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach can be beneficial. Our psychiatrists work closely with Advance Healthcare’s psychology team to deliver cohesive and integrated care. When clinically indicated, patients may be referred internally for evidence based psychological therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This team based approach supports consistent communication, aligned treatment goals, and coordinated care across disciplines. Further information regarding our psychology services can be found here.
Some people living with mental health conditions experience significant trauma symptoms, often resulting from repeated or prolonged adverse experiences. These experiences can have lasting effects on emotional regulation, self concept, relationships and overall functioning. Over time this may also result in dissociative symptoms and mood disorders including anxiety. Psychiatric assessment at Advance Healthcare considers the impact of complex trauma within the broader clinical picture. Our psychiatrists apply a trauma informed approach that emphasises safety and understanding, and where appropriate, care is coordinated with our internal psychology team to support access to evidence based psychological treatment.
Our psychiatrists also offer assessment and diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults. Where indicated, this may include formal psychometric assessment to support diagnosis. For individuals diagnosed with ADHD, our psychiatrists provide evidence based treatment planning, including medication prescription and management with ongoing reviews if required.
