Phil is a registered Psychologist and clinical psychology registrar. He has completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) and worked in a variety of roles including in public health outpatient settings, community mental health, and occupational mental health consulting. His interests include areas such as chronic pain, sleep disorders, adjustment disorders, excessive self-criticism, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. Phil has also previously completed a Master of Rehabilitation Counselling and has experience in vocational counselling and supporting with safe and sustainable return-to-work after injury or illness.

Phil is a strong believer in the role of psychological flexibility for achieving positive mental health outcomes, as well as in understanding how our current selves and behaviours are shaped by numerous environmental and social forces. He takes a personalised approach to helping people and employs techniques from therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). Phil aims to create a therapeutic environment that is understanding, non-judgemental, and trauma-informed, and enjoys supporting people to pursue lives filled with richness, meaning, and continual growth.

Outside of Advance, Phil enjoys playing team sports such as soccer and basketball, travelling, learning new languages, and learning to play musical instruments.
