Dr. Frank Buchanan, based in Melbourne, is an anaesthetist, medical acupuncturist, and interventional pain medicine physician. He graduated from Monash University and completed his anaesthesia training at the Alfred Hospital. Since obtaining his Fellowship from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, he has worked in both public and private practice, specializing in orthopaedic and gynaecological surgery and chronic pain management.

Frank is involved in anaesthetic and pain research, has published in peer-reviewed journals, and reviewed for the British Journal of Anaesthesia. He is a member of several associations, including the ASA, Australian Pain Society, AMAC, IASP, INS, IPPS, and WIP. He has been a research fellow at Mercy Hospital for Women and the Alfred Hospital and is part of the Acute Pain Special Interest Group. He has authored several chapters in the current edition of Acute Pain Management: the Scientific Evidence.
